Along with the many volunteer opportunities, the SDA's goal is to provide students in the Department of Nutrition Sciences the opportunity for growth, knowledge, and support in the pursuit of their personal challenges and dietetic careers.
Our creed "By the Students...For the Students" is representative of the positive impact and awareness that we strive toward in educating the public and helping each other. We welcome new members and celebrate the many creative ideas that you will bring for a successful year.

Scholarships and Grants
Lisa Sherman Service Award
Lisa Sherman, M.Ed., R.D. has made possible an endowed scholarship fund that will offer annually a $500 award to an outstanding junior or senior student. This award recognizes excellence in service to the UNLV Student Dietetic Association and the Department of Nutrition Sciences.
This monetary award is given to a junior or senior candidate admitted to and in present pursuit of a nutrition degree with the intent to practice in the field of dietetics. The student must demonstrate strong leadership skills and a commitment to serve and advance the profession. This award was created by Lisa Beth Sherman, M.Ed., R.D., who taught at UNLV from 1988 to 1994 and is an avid volunteer for the Southern Nevada Dietetic Association, the Nevada Dietetic Association, and the Society of Public Health Educators in the Las Vegas community. Lisa was the recipient of a similar award during her dietetic education experience at Bradley University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
